Tuesday November 12th

Tomorrow looks far and away the most interesting day of the midweek, at least in terms of quality of fixtures, with a full round in Brazil getting underway, I also want to take a look at the DP World Tour Championship golf and one other event and might have to split things over two emails, but will update that in the morning, as usual the next newsletter is due at 10.00 UK time on Wednesday.

Two teams we have discussed a lot this season. The Lions are a club I have always had a bit of a soft spot for (yes I am a little odd) and they did us a favour last week in that home draw with league leaders Burnley, but as we discussed at the time, that is typical Millwall, raising their game against the big clubs at the New Den. Only really Ligue 2 in this email (sent to subscribers this morning), but I will pass on a few words about the Brentford-Shrewsbury Town, League 1 match tomorrow, the Bees are not playing well at present, but have managed to pick up six points in the last week. Coming from 1-0 down early in the second half at home to defeat Colchester United 3-1 last weekend and winning at Bristol City, for whom nothing is going right, 2-1 in midweek.

We discussed the hosts ahead of their first home league game of the season .... After a narrow 2-1 loss at newly promoted Bournemouth on the opening day, where they were not helped by the dismissal of midfielder Bradley Pritchard (42-3-12 last season), the Addicks got off the mark with a 4-0 demolition of Oxford United here in midweek. The board had earlier released the purse strings to allow boss Chris Powell to sign two strikers, Simon Church of Reading and Marvin Sordell on a loan deal from Bolton Wanderers, this was a real staement of intent IMO.
