Ahead of last season I wrote.....
The Premier League will have an odd geographical look, with just five clubs from the North of the country, the previous 20 seasons have seen at least six, with 18 campaigns having 7+ and, between 2007-08 and 2010-11, there were at least 10 and as many as 11.
In addition to the five Northern clubs, there will be four from the Midlands, three from the South, one from the East and seven from London
In 2008-09 there were 11 from the North, 5 from London , 3 from the Midlands and one from the South.
Despite this shift, 14 of the last 18 EPL titles, including the last seven, have gone to the North and they have taken the top 2 spots in 9 campaigns, so 50% of the time.
Relegation for Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton meant that we lost one each from the Midlands, East and South and they have been replaced by guess what ? Three Northern teams!
That makes eight for 2025/26 and they have retaken the lead over London, who still have seven. It leaves West Ham United as the most Easterly team in the EPL and Everton as the furthest West!
