Atalanta to bounce back and shorthanded Juventus set to struggle....

Monza -Atalanta
Last weekend Atalanta hosted Lecce and my brief notes went a lot like this .....
Atalanta are the second top scorers in Serie A, Lecce have scored the fewest, a shade over 1.3 goals per game difference, which is beyond massive. However, we can make a case for the visitors having more at stake given that they are fighting for survival and Atalanta look booked for third place. Having said that, the hosts will want to confirm a top 4 finish and return to Champions League football ASAP. The Bergamo side have conceded the second most home goals in the top half of the table, which should give Lecce some hope they can at least trouble the scoreboard operator and the visitors have scored in 5 of 7 road starts, 9 total , including in a 2-1 defeat at Juventus last time out. XGD suggests that Atalanta should have conceded 5 more goals and Lecce scored 10 more, so, we are all good to go with .....2 units both teams to score @ 2.24 asian line.
They played out perfectly for us with a 1-1 draw and Lecce will doubtless have been equally pleased with the point which kept them out of the drop zone with the bottom 3 all losing.
Atalanta need 6-7 points to guarantee top 4, but in all likelihood less will seal the deal, but the three easiest are on offer today at already relegated and basement club Monza, who have already lost 11 home games. The Bergamo side usually bounce back after a home draw and next time out on the road after the last three, all of which have come since February, they have won at Empoli (5-0), Verona (4-0) and Juventus (4-0) which is an incredibly impressive sequence and I suspect that head coach Gian Gasperini has been reading them the riot act again this week, if not throwing sandwiches (look it up!) and we can expect another reaction.

Bologna - Juventus
Expected numbers right across the board pretty much agree with the league table with regard to these two clubs, who are going toe to toe for a Champions League spot, but with three other teams in the mix too and we have passed the stage where Bologna can accept a point (Juve might). They have been strong at home all season and 31 goals scored as host is a good number and a small improvement on 23/24 when they qualified for the CL for the first time in 60 years and as I often write, once you are in Europe's premier club competition once, you want more and the high quality games and money become addictive. I also feel they are the better of these two clubs right now, not as used to playing in the big games as Juve, but the visitors play safe too often IMO and they have won just twice in ten away starts since the turn of the year. Bologna have lost just once in 21 home games in 14 months and have averaged 2.25 goals in the last 12, scoring 2+ in nine of those.
Juventus will be without suspended striker Kenan Yildiz and the only game he has missed completely this season was a 3-0 defeat at Fiorentina and with a defensive crisis, look set to play someone out of position in central defence.
