Earthquakes rumble on!

football betting tips -

MLS: Minnesota United - San Jose Earthquakes

In preseason I highlighted Earthquakes as a team to keep an eye on ......

San Jose Earthquakes : expected numbers suggest they should have been a massive 19 points and 26 goals better off and gives them a good potential upside. The Bruce Arena era has now arrived, he is the new head coach , not a new stadium and Arena is vastly experienced and has been in charge of a MLS team, or the National side since 1996. He was last at New England Revolution between 2019-2023 and what he achieved there and immediately was remarkable and Earthquakes will be looking for a repeat. He took charge of the club in June, at that time they were bottom of the table, they immediately went 12 games unbeaten and eventually make the playoffs. The following season Revolution advanced to the Eastern Conference final for the first time in six years and in 2021 they won their first Supporters Shield with a then record number of points!

He might be able to get an easy and quick upgrade in goal, as Brazilian Daniel looks fit again, he posted MLS best goalkeeper numbers in 2023, his replacement(s) league worst stats in 2024. Arena will have spent all the off season getting his team disciplined and well set up, that is his modus operandi and he has drafted in players he felt were needed and/or he knew, five arriving from Revolution. And as we know, "you won't fool the Children of the Revolution"!

So they will, not should, be more solid, will be better coached and also look upgraded offensively, having signed RSL Striker Chicho Arango (53 goals and 13 assists in 92 appearances) and veteran Josef Martinez ( 116 goals and 18 assists in 184 appearances) who is a former MLS Cup winner and MVP. They have two quality playmakers and what's not to like ?

San Jose are a BIG potential improver.

That was pretty much on the money as SJE has 17 more points and are 35 goals better off than at this stage last season! Only Conference leaders San Diego have scored more goals in the West and only Supporters Shield holders Inter Miami in the East. Just as impressive is that fact that xP suggests they should have another six points on board, so, arguably, more improvement to come, most of that on the road, where they are "short" 4 points and 5 goals. Their last away day was a 4-2 win in Dallas and they can expect to have some more offensive joy today, with United having conceded 10 goals in their last five starts and 9 in their last five home games.

2 units San Jose Earthquakes to score "over" 1.5 goals @ 2.34 asian line.

Good luck!
