MLS:
St Louis City SC - Minnesota United
St Louis City had to settle for a share of the points at Portland Timbers in midweek (see below) in a 2-2 draw. They led for a combined 70 minutes+ and were much the stronger team. Their unbeaten run is now up to 15 games and next time out after the last six times they have dropped points ( drawn or lost) they are 6-0-0 and a strong chance that trend will continue. Minnesota United lost 5-4 at Portland on their own last away day and were saved by the woodwork three times. They are coming off a 2-1 home loss to Dallas and they have now shipped 10 goals and 15 BC's in their last three outings. United have won the last five h2h meetings scoring 15 goals, so that will give them confidence stepping off the team bus and there should be a goal or two in it for them, but they are conceding for "fun" ATM.
2.25 units St Louis City SC to score "over " 1.5 goals @ 1.78 asian line.
2 units "over" 3.5 goals @ 2.37 asian line.
San Diego FC - Philadelphia Union
FC Cincinnati - Charlotte FC
Union hosted FCC in midweek and I wrote ....
Union are 6-2-0 over their last eight games since I noted ....Philly were top of the Eastern Conference and won the Supporters Shield ( best regular season record) last season, but they are currently bottom and have conceded an additional 13 goals, whilst scoring 12 fewer. They are doubtless better than that and XGD suggests by more than one full goal per game (1.13). Expected numbers place them second only to Vancouver Whitecaps and as the best team in the Eastern Conference. FCC are full of goals but they have conceded 30 on the road, 4th most in MLS play and a repeat of Union's 4-1 win in this fixture last season, or similar, is very much on the cards.
Union won 5-0 and scored the three goals we were looking for inside 50 minutes, they were helped by a very early red card for FCC , but are really on a roll ATM and despite a long trip West on a quick turnaround, I cannot really desert them now. Also, San Diego themselves went coast to coast and back last weekend, losing 1-0 to Orlando and then lost by the odd goal in five at home to San Jose on Wednesday and Earthquakes had been in freefall for weeks and were winless in eight previously, with just a single victory in 14 starts.
FCC played 89 minutes with 10 men against Union, saw little of the ball and faced wave after wave of attack and that was very tiring and they can be opposed today with Charlotte, who are six games unbeaten, scoring 13 goals, including 2+ in each of their last three on the road. The second of which was a trip to Atlanta United when I noted .....United have conceded in 12 straight games, 23 goals total. One of which was a 2-2 draw when these two met in the reverse fixture last month. There are invariably goals when these two rivals meet and the last three meetings here at the Mercedes-Benz stadium have finished 1-3/2-3 /2-3 , the last of which was the 4th in five straight home games in which United conceded 2+ last mid summer. The NFL teams from the two cities (Falcons and Panthers) also meet in this stadium and David Tepper owns both the Panthers and Charlotte FC and there is always more at stake than a normal MLS "derby" when the two teams face off. Charlotte have been scoring freely, with three goals in each of their last three (combined 14-4 for BC's) and 2+ in 7 of 9.
They won that 2-0 and followed up on the road in midweek with a come from behind win at CF Montreal and the away day 2+ goal four timer is on at Cincy, who have shipped 9 in their last two starts and against whom Charlotte have scored 8 in the last 4 h2h meetings.
2.25 units Philadelphia Union -0.25 ball @ 2.19 asian line.
2 units Charlotte FC level ball @ 2.35 asian line and , of course, to score 2+ @ 1.97 appeals too.
Good luck!
Portland Timbers - St Louis City SC
SLCSC landed a double bet for us at odds of 2.67 and 5.79 at Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday when they won 3-1 .....
Every team in every game always has a price/quote at which we should become interested in and SLC make that criteria today at 6.0+. That is not to say they will win, but they are most definitely, IMO, overpriced and that is all we need to know. Whitecaps are probably the best team in MLS, statistically they are and I wrote of them as such late last and early this season. However, winning has not been so easy recently, just 3 in 11 starts and whilst two of those were big wins, it all feels a bit hit and miss and two victories were also against teams wildly out of form and that is certainly not St Louis. Who have come a long way ( see what I did there!) since falling out of the blocks early this season (one win in 10) and they are now unbeaten in 13 games and closing in on the top spots in the Western Conference ....

First season head coach Yoann Damet is young at 38 yo and obviously took a while to get his ideas across, but the Frenchman has been in the US for a dozen years and was assistant at many big clubs (Montreal, FCC, Galaxy, Crew), he knows MLS well and is well respected. SLC are clearly pleased with how things are going and are looking to kick on further and they have invested heavily in an already winning team in the last month. Signing Carlo Holse from Samsunspor for a big fee and many of you will know him better than I, from his time in Denmark and Norway and paying a MLS record fee (between two US clubs) to Colorado Rapids for Rafael Navarro who is a DP and marquee signing. They spent more on the duo they they had in the last five seasons combined. Navarro already has 10 goals and three assists for Rapids and has scored in his last two starts against Whitecaps , this season (in the BC stadium) and last.
The owners (three) are wealthy, but very involved in the community, city and club. Carolyn Kindle (Enterprise car hire family) is also CEO and at the club 6-7 days per week and Jim Kavanaugh actually played the game at a high level , was in the US 1984 Olympic team and owns one of the biggest (maybe the biggest) companies in the city. Also first season sporting director Corey Wray has a very good CV and is a great story, apparently demanding to be interviewed for the job , he is a very forceful character and we can talk about this in the future as it is an exciting club, one trending in the right direction and we will be tracking them long term. Corey Wray background. Lengthy Carolyn Kindle interview.
Edit: SLC also added 22yo US international striker Damion Downs on loan with an option to buy from Southampton on Wednesday. He had 10 goals and 5 assists for Koln in their 24/25 promotion campaign and spent a half season on loan with Hamburg in the Bundesliga last season. St Louis have greatly increased offensive options in this window.
SLCSC were deserved winners and bossed all offensive categories and remain on the West Coast to play Timbers, who are 15 games without a clean sheet and who conceded six in their last two, both at home and to two bottom five Western Conference sides, conceding 11 BC's. Away win and St Louis to score 2+ goals.
2.5 units St Louis City level ball @ 2.13 asian line.
