The Wolves are circling .....
Apr 24, 2026

I have just sent subscribers a 3,000+ word email with notes on ten Premier League and Bundesliga games for this weekend and you can read one of those below, but remember, you are only seeing 10% of today's notes and here on the website, perhaps just 3% of clubgowi output as free to view content.....
Premier League: Wolverhampton Wanderers- Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham hosted Brighton last weekend and my lengthy notes on that game included.....
Tottenham played a day later, losing 1-0 at Sunderland in Roberto De Zerbi's first game in charge of the troubled North London giants.....
Roberto De Zerbi is the new Tottenham head coach with a MASSIVE long term contract. The main supporters group complained immediately about the appointment, for RDZ's "defending" of Mason Greenwood (look it up) for which he has "apologised" but that is not the way to start your reign at an already troubled club. He would not have been my choice, but rather than slate him at this stage, I will simply call my concerns "doubts", but they make for quite a long list, first up Greenwoodgate, then his record when first joining Benevento (0-1-8 first nine starts) and Brighton (winless in five FTS in three), the fact that he doesn't have the players for his style of play (which he is emphatic about), has never been in an EPL relegation battle (or one anywhere that he has not been sacked or relegated....Palermo/ Benevento) and will not get the HUGE analytical help he received at Brighton, which was the comment I made about Thomas Frank and Brentford when he took over at Spurs.
Tottenham are winless in 13 EPL games (0-5-8) conceding at the rate of 2.08 games and they have won just 18 of 69 games (26.09% win rate) since the start of last season.
All the pressure is on Spurs, but nothing we have seen this season or for the last two campaigns in the EPL suggest that this version of what IS a BIg 6 club can handle it. There has been discussion in the last week that Tottenham being relegated would be as big a shock as Leicester City winning the EPL, but it is now a real possibility, they might need 8-9 points from six games to survive (having collected just 5 from the last 14) and three need to come today. It is possible that RDZ has found the answer this week and restored some confidence in players, but even if he has, Brighton are the better team, by double digit points whether you use the real or expected table, both this season or last and have motivation of their own, fast closing in on a European spot.
It WAS a better performance from Spurs and they will feel hard done by with a 2-2 draw after taking the lead with just 12 minutes remaining and perhaps we can expect them to step up again, after RDZ has had another week on the training ground with his squad. Brighton franked the form line by destroying Chelsea 3-0 in midweek, but the Blues were beyond awful and would have lost to any EPL side that night and most in the Championship!
Wolves are relegated and have lost their last two games by a combined 7-0, but both were on the road and despite their position and points total, the hosts do not feel like a classically bad EPL side and their last three EPL home games have seen them face Arsenal (2-2), Aston Villa (2-0) and Liverpool (2-1) which is incredible, all are top 5 and superior to Tottenham by some way and I can see Wolves and head coach Rob Edwards wanting to lay down a marker for next season if Tottenham are to join them in the Championship. Also, if I told you those three results without naming the home side and then said they are now hosting a team in 18th place who are winless in the league since December and who drew the reverse fixture 1-1 and lost on each of they last three visits here , conceding 7 goals , what would you guess the odds would be for the mystery team? Probably not circa 4.5 or 3.20 to score 2+ goals for the 4th home game running!
2.25 units Wolverhampton Wanderers to score "over" 1.5 goals @ 3.0-3.25 general quote for the 4th home game in a row, with Tottenham conceding 2+ in 9 of their last 11.
Good luck!
