Sporting did us a favour last week, finding a last gasp winner at Real Salt Lake, ahead of which I wrote ... Sporting have lost centre back Matt Besler (15-0-1) who was called up to the US squad this week and they have lost 2 of the last 3 he has sat out and I would argue he is their most important defender and possibly, overall player. They do get Mechack Jerome and Peterson Joseph back from Gold Cup duty which gives them more options.

Nothing should surprise me any longer, I have been involved in gambling too long, but I am still a little shocked when someone writes to me and asks which company they should bet with, usually going on to add that "I only have an account with Bet365 or Paddy Power" or some similar company.

Several of you have asked and I will have the first (possibly two) long term bets for the upcoming English football season towards the end of next week, probably on Thursday or Friday.
I am going to leave the Brazilian fixtures for today, I was keen on Bahia last night ( +0.5 ) and let them pass, so am a little wary in any case. Gremio are very motivated to win their first home start for returning coach Renato Gaucho, but look a little on the short side.
