Several of you have asked and I will have the first (possibly two) long term bets for the upcoming English football season towards the end of next week, probably on Thursday or Friday.

I am going to leave the Brazilian fixtures for today, I was keen on Bahia last night ( +0.5 ) and let them pass, so am a little wary in any case. Gremio are very motivated to win their first home start for returning coach Renato Gaucho, but look a little on the short side.

Monday: snippets from today's subscriber newsletter

Chicago Fire won 2-1 (see previous preview).

Today, I have sent subscribers four selections ( all at odds of 2.30 +) and have posted brief snippets from some of them below ......

Stanislas Wawrinka- Lleyton Hewitt

Hewitt is very much in the twilight of his career, but has refound some form on grass and went to the semis at Queens, beating Dimitri, Querry and Del Potro in order, working his way past a player ranked top 30, top 20 and top 10 .

2014 World Cup qualifier : Jordan - Oman betting preview

football betting tips -

I was originally interested in Jordan for their home World Cup qualifier with Oman, the hosts need to win to keep their qualification hopes alive, but things have not been going their way recently and the more I think about this match, the harder/ more open it looks. Firstly, they suffered that heavy 4-0 defeat to Australia last week , which was hardly good for their confidence, they did lose 6-0 in Japan last year and then bounced back to win at home to Australia in their next group game, but there was over three months between games and time for the mental scars to heal.

Monday update ....

football betting tips -

You will see from the post below that we backed US Open winner Justin Rose to win yesterday at circa 10.0, we also took a little on Jason Day @ 18.0 and he finished in a tie for second.

The only other outright bet we had all week on the golf, or other bet bet at all, at the Open, was for Charl Schwartzel to finish top 20, which is also detailed in the previous post and he finished in 14th.

US Open golf: Round 4 betting preview

football betting tips -

Our sole position on the US Open (see below) looks good with Charl Schwartzel just one stroke off the lead in a three way tie for second place, more importantly for us, he has a nice seven stroke buffer over the players outside the top 20, he has shot 70-71-69 this week and even a 76 or 77 in Round 4 ,would probably get the job done, but let's hope he doesn't cut things that fine ! Full leaderboard and in play action can be followed on the US Open website.
