Forest must have been thinking, like everyone else who was watching, what the heck were Villa doing (or rather not doing) last night against Tottenham , with the Midlands club putting in one of the most inept and lacklustre performances I have seen in the EPL. More of that later in the week, but it has put Forest back in a bit of trouble and they will want to take something from this game and will arrive looking for a 4th game unbeaten at Stamford Bridge. 

 

Chelsea have not played since their FA Cup semi final win at Wembley over Leeds United ahead of which my note included.....

 

Chelsea have parted ways with head coach Liam Rosenior subsequently and have an interim appointment taking charge today, but it is difficult to see how that is going to help much. The club have had a long season, lost their way, with key players underperforming and no leadership from above. They are not putting in the work either, with the Blues coming out 20th in the EPL for distance run and incredibly, they covered a massive 7 km less than Brighton in midweek.

 

Chelsea won 1-0 , they started well, but created very little and almost nothing at all after the break ( two off target attempts) and looked to run out of steam a bit, United were off the pace and might have been a little overawed by the occasion and could not take advantage.  Goals have dried up for the hosts and they are finding winning hard and Forest are in their season best form ,6-3-1 in their last 10 starts (Chelsea are 2-1-7) and the odds today do not make sense. Yes, Forest have a European semi final second leg on Thursday, which is far from ideal, but cannot afford to switch off this evening.
