The Premier League restarts today. 89 is not only a prime number and the atomic number of actinium, it is the number of days since the 25/26 EPL season ended and, even with the World Cup to keep us occupied over the summer, that feels long enough.

We get the traditional big versus small fixture to kick us off, but for the third season running the Big 6 side is hosting and I am not keen on that development, surely more fun and a better spectacle if Coventry City had been at home to Arsenal.

But who knows, this is the EPL, there are no easy games and City will probably have more chance today of causing an upset than in a couple of months, once the champions are fully warmed up!

It feels like a pretty attractive round of games to be fair and a classic (aren't they all) EPL season awaits, with nine teams in Europe, a potential record or at least a top 2 summer spend ( EPL clubs have already spent more than the other four big European leagues combined), nine new managers and another in the job only a month before the end of last season and possibly 14 teams in contention for top 7.
