Deutsche Bank Championship golf : Final round betting preview

Top 125 players on the FedEx standings are eligible to compete and play in the first event, which starts today......The Barclays.
Labor Day holiday in the US which is why we have a Monday finish to the Deutsche Bank Championship.
This is the second leg of the Playoff series and we will be reduced to 70 runners for the final two events of the FedEx Cup and to end the season, after today, we have discussed the format several times recently...........
We have a virtual knockout format, with 125 golfers, playing down to 30 over the next three weeks, they will all then do battle in the "final" with mega money on the line.
Top 125 players on the FedEx standings are eligible to compete and play in the first event, which starts today......The Barclays.
After this week, the top 100 in the standings are then eligible to play in the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Following that, the top 70 move on to the BMW Championship and finally.....
Just 30 will feature in the season ending Tour Championship.
There is no halfway cut in the final two events, all four have big prize money, but the top 30 who make the Tour Championship will also share out some huge bonus payments ($35m !) .
This always makes for some interesting scenarios with people busting a gut to shoot low over closing holes despite being way off the pace, just moving up from 101st to 100th spot could be vital, it would mean playing next week, when it would start all over again, but more importantly, keep the dream alive !

There are any number of interesting match ups today and everyone with a chance to play in the BMW will be motivated ,as everyone will be looking to finish as high as possible in the overall standings, however, those who are guaranteed to play both remaining events, cannoit IMO be quite as determined to do well today as those on the "bubble".
Hunter Mahan and Hudson Swafford are currently in a tie for 11th and are projected to finish 67th and 69th respectively and needing a 10th and 9th place finish to be "guaranteed" a place in the BMW. With 19 players within three strokes of each other bewteen T6th and T20th, you can quickly see that there is little room for either to slip up and both will need to play solidly to make the cut off point. They face Matt Kuchar and Patrick Reed who both have plenty to play for, but are going to get other chances and I just doubt that they will be quite as focused as the first named pair who will have to go home for the winter if they slip up.
Mahan is a proven winner and playoff performer, who finished second in the Tour championship in 2011 and won the Barclays last year, he shot eight birdies yesterday in a low round of the day 64 and whilst it is difficult to go so low back to back, he did so at the Barclays last year and Masters earlier this season and shot two low rounds here in 2013 and is sub 70 at TPC Boston in his last two Sunday rounds. I guess he needs to shoot around 68 today to finish inside the 70.
Swafford is only playing his second season on Tour, he has a bit of a journeyman look about him and might have overachieved to just get to this point, but he is still only 27 and has the chance to secure his and his family's future with a good round today and I can think of no greater motivation.Reed whom he faces in a two ball is very talented, almost as talented as he believes ( low esteem is not an issue for Reed !) , but can shoot high when not in contention and he has let some R4 scores slide, in 15 "sunday" outings since March, he has only broken 70 four times and shot 72 + on nine occasions, 73 + on six and posted an 82 in this event last year.

However, my best idea of the golfing day and one I am very keen on and at an even bigger price is ...........
