France: Ligue 2

Sedan- GFCO Ajaccio

We discussed the visitors last week ahead of their "home " match with Auxerre .... "The hosts are doomed, already 12 points from safety and lacking the personnel and facilities for Ligue 2, they should just try and enjoy the rest of their season. Today is a match against a "big name" club and I expect Gazelec to go all out for the win, despite the match being played on the mainland in Gueugnon, a neutral venue,Auxerre like to play an open style and this is another fixture which promises goals. Centre back Loick Landre (17-1-0) is the only real defensive concern for the "home" side , but they have not kept a cleansheet without Landre since he joined on loan from PSG, striker Youssouf Touré (30-1-1) is also missing, but has hardly been prolific !"

That ended in a very disappointing 0-0 draw, which left Gazelec stranded at the foot of the table 12 points from safety and definitely heading back to National, the situation was compounded yesterday with GFCO docked another three points, the stadium closed until the end of the season and four club officials handed very long suspensions. Confidence must be at a very low ebb and they already had something of a persecution complex, so goodness knows what the mood will be like when they travel to Sedan. It could inspire them, but I kind of doubt it, however, hopefully it will enable them to simply throw the shackles off and really go for it tonight, if nothing else, they should at least look to enjoy their football and provide some entertainment. They get Landre and Touré back this evening.

Sedan are themselves nine points from safety, but their situation in comparison looks rosy, this is a very good opportunity to close the gap, if they can win and several of the six teams who are only two points above the drop zone, drop points, it will be very much game on for them. They have fought hard over the last month , collecting two wins and two draws from their last six starts, scoring seven goals in their last four outings, the only one of which they lost was against highflying Guingamp, via a last minute winner. last week they drew 2-2 at Lens, where they were desperately unlucky, leading 2-0 and creating much the better of the chances, the hosts got back on level terms with a very dubious looking penalty and even then, Sedan, who refused to give up, were denied late by the woodwork. You can see very brief highlights of that match on this link.

The hosts are without suspended left back Florian Pinteaux (22-0-0) and have won just one of the nine matches he has sat out this season, but we are now at the stage of the season where team news is less important than desire and commitment and Sedan look to have far and away the most of that heading into this game.

I make Sedan a strong bet, but am also going to take a little on the "over", given our "two struggling teams playing each other, equals goals" mantra and the fact that the hosts rarely keep a cleansheet and have conceded 21 goals in the 11 matches that Pinteaux has played less than 30 minutes, at least one goal in each.

Visitors are without striker Nicolas Verdier (23-4-1), who might well be relieved to be suspended !

We tend to do well with this rare double bet, so ...

I unit "over" 2.5 goals 2.25 asian line/ Ibramarket.

1.5 units Sedan -0.5 ball 2.04 asian line/ Ibramarket.

Sedan : Perraud, Ramé - Bellaïd, Dielna, Pogba, Marcq, Aït Ben Idir, Beziouen, Bijimine, Court, Kouamatien, Le Bihan, Makhedjouf, Tchenkoua, Bongongui, Diaby, Diallo.

Ajaccio GFCO : Maury, M'Bolhi - Maïga, Filippi, Rachidi, Davidas, Bocognano, Landre, Colinet, Dufau, Poggi, Touré, Laïfa, Novillo, Collorédo, Saadi.

Visitors have conceded 45% of all their goals between the 15th-45th minute.

Good Luck.
