Golf looks almost guaranteed to become the first mainstream professional sport to return in the US.

 

The PGA Tour will restart at the Charles Schwab Challenge, Colonial CC, Fort Worth , Texas starting June 11th, four weeks from tomorrow.

 

Golf is unique in that it can be played outdoors whilst observing social distancing guidelines.

 

Players and caddies will be tested three times in a tournament week, once at home and twice at the event. Plan is also for the Tour to charter jumbo jets to ferry players and caddies from tournament to tournament , helping them remain in a germ-free bubble.

 

Weirdest thing is caddies are able to carry clubs, but not touch them ! Took me a while to get my head around that !

 

Players will have to remove and replace clubs from the golf bag and get the ball out of the hole. Caddies will probably be allowed to rake bunkers and tend flagsticks, on condition they use sanitary wipes after use.

 

They would essentially be there to provide emotional and intellectual support, as well as ensure players will not have to carry their bags.

 

Confirmed guidelines will be released by the PGA later this week and will make interesting reading, but I don't think they will ask anyone to wear Kid Rock golf attire !
