Championship betting tip: West Bromwich Albion-Nottingham Forest

Championship: West Bromwich Albion-Nottingham Forest

When I updated the Championship outright market at the start of this month I touched upon Albion ................

They are still unbeaten through 15 games (basically a third of the season) , with an 11-4-0 record, 26-8 goal difference and a 5 point lead at the top of the table over Fulham, a 9 point advantage over the team in third (WBA). The last five teams to be #1 after 15 rounds have all been automatically promoted (top 2), three as champions, all five had between a 1-3 advantage at this stage, which augurs well for all involved at the South Coast club

The Cherries are a top priced 2.50 to win the Championship, Fulham who are the best team by some way in terms of xP are 2.75 and it is very difficult to see anyone apart from these two taking the title.

Aside from WBA (circa 5.0 +) ,everyone else is priced at 40.0 + and none look quite up to the task and Albion have some real issues in the striker position and appear some way behind the top 2 currently.

The Baggies have played three games subsequently, scoring once and taken two points, they have , infact, scored just twice in five and obviously, those issues remain. Only Karlan Grant has scored more than three goals and all of his eight have come when he has played LW and if Matt Philipps is a striker , then I am going to look for my boots as I could probably get a game up top !

Forest are 10 places and nine points further back, but they were terrible through the opening 10 games before they changed head coach and late last month I wrote ............

We have been riding the Forest gravy train recently and ahead of a midweek trip to Bristol City my notes included..........

Forest won for us at Birmingham City (3-0) just before the international break and are on the rise............

Forest have parted ways with Chris Hughton which I feel sorry about, it was coming for weeks, but he inherited a mess and couldn't find a solution. Steve Cooper (pictured) has now taken over after waiting on the sidelines for some time, while compensation was sorted out with Swansea. As is often the way, there was an immediate response and Forest are unbeaten in three (two with Cooper at the helm) with two wins, both on the road, including 3-1 at Barnsley in midweek and it has to be said that the players are showing effort they never showed for Hughton. Forest averaged just 0.67 xGF through their first 7 starts, they have won the xG battle in the last three and recorded a season high xGF of 1.86 in midweek. The visitors are finally heading in the right direction and City are finding it so hard to create and to win at home, good odds for the away win.

They followed up at home to Blackpool on Saturday , just 2-1 but they created 5 BC's and an xG of over 2.5 , were worthy of more and 5-6 weeks ago, they would have found a way to draw or lose that. They have 13 points from five starts, are very well suited to playing on the road, scoring  8 goals in three away wins in that sequence and this sleeping giant has awoken from it's slumbers.

They trailed 1-0 late, but found two injury time goals to take all three points and that is the way things go when the tide turns , self belief returns and results start going your way and right now, they probably feel invincible

They then lost heavily to Fulham, but are unbeaten in another 5 games since then, albeit with 4 draws. Forest are on the up, but still find it tough to turn one point into three, WBA are struggling and every point is hard earned at present. Three of the last four H2H meetings have ended all square including the last two here at the Hawthorns (both 2-2) and a very good chance that these two local rivals cancel each other out once again.

Good luck !
