Andre Gray my Lord , Andre Gray .....

At clubgowi it is all about the content, results will always take care of themselves long term if the quality of analysis and research is top notch.....good timing helps too !

Early in November I wrote this to subscribers ahead of  Brentford's trip to Nottingham Forest ....I can talk a little about Brentford striker Andre Gray, strikers are a funny breed, confidence is everything and they tend to be very streaky, goals and dry spells often tend to come in groups and once a sequence without scoring is broken, they can usually be followed for a game or two.

AG scored the equaliser against Derby County on Saturday and immediately almost got a second, being denied by the woodwork and you could see the relief once he scored and I expect his confidence in front of goal to return, after his first goal in seven weeks. Gray scored 30 goals in Luton Town's Conference title winning team last season, this is a big step up for him, three divisions is a lot in one leap and there have been huge demands placed on him. Firstly, he openly admitted that he expected to have started 3-4 games by this stage and he has played in 14 of 15 and led the line on his own in each, whereas he played almost solely wide in a front three for the Hatters. this was forced upon him by the injury to Scott Hogan and the fact that two additions to the squad have fallen short of expectation and the Bees are trying to address this and will bring in another striker at some stage (Danny Graham was close to signing last week), just to ease the workload on Gray, who has also had to make a big step up in terms of fitness. In an interview last week he said that he was way off the pace in pre season and couldn't believe how fit the other players were (Brentford are one of the best conditioned teams outside the EPL, easily the best in L1 last season and I have seen no fitter Championship team so far) and how much work everyone did in training and he has bought into that and upped his personal sessions.

Brentford are very pleased with him and this work ethic and desire to improve, which is the club mantra, he has led the line well, done an enormous amount of work and had almost nothing fall for him in the box, now that he has got that goal, I feel one or two more will follow, he is circa 3.50 to score tonight and given that Forest have conceded at least twice in their last five starts and five in their last two home games, that looks a decent price, but is not freely available, so I will leave it with you.

Not an "official " bet, so it will never appear in results, but Gray scored the second of three goals in a 3-1 win and he could perhaps have scored at least one more. Just a few days later, ahead of the match with Millwall I updated thus : It was probably his (Gray's) best performance for the team and one absolutely full of confidence and highlights just how important goals are to a striker and how even just one, can really get them up and running. There is some 3.25-3.40 on offer for him to score again today and if any of you backed him in midweek, you could always play up a little of your winnings !

He scored twice that day and again, it will never appear in results. Clubgowi members have know about the Bees and AG for some time, today, he was named Championship Player of the Month

and everyone else now knows too.

clubgowi..... always ahead of the pack !

Good Luck.
