Is the title race back on ? Leaders Atletico have had a mini blip and Real would move second and above Barcelona with the win this evening and within 3 points of their cross town rival, albeit having played a game more. They then actually play the big Madrid derby this coming weekend and incredibly, as they trailed Atleti by 10 points coming into February, two wins this week would see them top of the table come Sunday evening ! Add in their positive Champions League first leg result and it could be a season defining period for Real.
Last four starts...........34-17 ITB, 9-4 BC's, 20-8 on target attempts, 7.57-1.98 xG, average league position of opponents ........16.0.
In the first half at home they are 5-4-1 with an 8-3 goal difference, after the break they are 7-3-1 and 12-4.
Stand out stat: Real have scored exactly 4 goals in each 15 minute split at home, except between the 16th-30th when they have not scored at all.
Sociedad were made to look very ordinary by Manchester United in the Europa League, but are without that distraction now and recent league form has been good, they would move 5th win the win and within 4 points of top 4.

Real Sociedad are without suspended CM Mikel Merino ( 1 goal, 4 assists) and he is a big player for them, but they did win 4-1 away to Celta Vigo in the only game he has sat out this season.
