Premier League: Arsenal - Chelsea

It has probably seemed like a very long week since these two last played and both recorded poor results. Arsenal at Manchester City when they lost 4-1 and possibly the title and Chelsea 2-0 at home to Brentford.
Ahead of the latter my notes included ..........
Chelsea have an advantage of sorts as they have not played for more than a week, since they hosted Real Madrid, ahead of which I noted .......
Chelsea are not very good , some decisions at the club have been even worse, Lampard ( seriously!), signing everyone who was expensive and who had a pulse regardless as to how they might fit into a team, battered out of sight by Brighton at the weekend (forget the 1-2 scoreline, 0-5 would have been a better reflection of what took place!), after which owner Todd Boehly went into the dressing room mob handed and ranted for the best part of an hour about how embarrassing his players were, singling out one or two in front of their teammates for special treatment! His "hope" was that his tirade would inspire them!!!!! Apparently , some were still visible fuming about this at the training ground yesterday! Personally, I would touch them with a barge pole , Lampard- Ancelotti is a mismatch of epic proportions and Real will win if they want, leading 2-0 they do not need to, but if the Blues gamble and they will have to at some stage ,it could get nasty.
Chelsea are 11th, they have some good, possibly great players, but are not a team, xP places them exactly of that same level, whenever we see a Big 6 team in a lowly position, which is more often in early season, xP almost always places them significantly higher and they tend to come on strong at some stage, but not this time and the Blues are mid table on merit. Their -3 goal difference, also places them 11th and 30 goals scored (66 at the same stage last season!)15th.
Nothing to sway me from that thinking, the Blues are not a "team" and goals are hard to come by. Maybe not as hard against this Arsenal team right now, as some of the defensive issues we have been debating for 2-3 months have come home to roost . The Gunners have kept just 3 clean sheets in 18 starts, have conceded in the last seven (14 goals total), giving up 2+ in the last four and in half (9) of those 18.
There is no doubt that Arsenal are the better team, they won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge just before the World Cup break and it was as one sided a single margin win as possible and the Blues were fortunate to score nil! The Gunners are 36 points better and I have seen both teams live twice this season against the same opponent and that points differential is not flattering in the slightest, Arsenal having performed on an entirely different level. However, we do not know how "losing" that massive game last week, on the back of dropped points to Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton, games they should have won, will have affected them and confidence levels. I certainly would not back them to keep a clean sheet , even against this toothless Chelsea side. Having said that, many feel the title race is now over and City are champions elect, but Arsenal can still put pressure on the Sky Blues, who have two massive games with Real Madrid on the near horizon and we still have a month to go in the title race. Yes, Arsenal can place the EPL trophy on a platter and hand it to City, but alternatively, if they win this evening they go back to the top and that should always be an incentive and City have two teams fighting for survival to play this week and those are never "gimmes". The Gunners last 15 home wins have seen them concede in 13, scoring 50 goals total, let's go with those trends and a 3-1 home win.
