Philadelphia Union - Real Salt Lake
Five previews in today's clubgowi newsletter, none of which I can share, but you can read some of my basic stats for today's MLS games below which might be of interest................
MLS:
We always expect goals and home wins in MLS and they are not disappointing in either category in 2018, with 3.15 goals pg and 55.65% going the way of the host. Draws have fallen off and are currently running at 18.26%.
New York City FC - Colorado Rapids
NYCFC have conceded 10 of their 16 goals (62.5%) in the first half, which is the wrong way round !
Portland Timbers - Los Angeles FC
LAFC scored 16 in six on the road, next best in MLS is Sporting KC with 10 in five .
Portland have conceded 14 goals, 11 total in the final 15 minutes of each half, they have a plus goal difference in each of the other 15 minute splits 0-15 +1, 16-30 +3, 46-60 +2, 61- 75 +2, but are -2 (31-45) and -6 (75+) and are not seeing out the full 45 minutes well. They have also scored their 14 goals from only 39 attempts on target .
FC Dallas - Vancouver Whitecaps
Whitecaps have scored 11 of their 14 goals after the break and have a -6 first half goal difference in road games.
FCD have conceded just one FH goal at home, which came on opening day.
New England Revolution - Columbus Crew
Just four goals total in Crew's 8 away starts, which is surprising in a league averaging 3.15 per game, especially as their home games are producing at the rate of 3.29.
Revolution are strong at home in the first half , not conceding in six starts, scoring six themselves.
Philadelphia Union - Real Salt Lake
Union have not scored a goal inside the first 30 minutes all season and only eight total.
San Jose Earthquakes - D.C. United
36 goals in San Jose's first 10 starts , this is in stark contrast to what we normally expect from them, through ten games last five years .........22,25,21,22,23, so producing at the rate of an extra 1.1-1.5 goals pg. They have yet to keep a cleansheet and are without one since mid September , that's 16 starts.
DCU have played 6 of their just 8 starts on the road which is tough, but they have picked up only one point and conceded at the rate of 2.33 goals pg in those. They have scored ten goals total, but have averaged the fewest attempts (7 pg), fewest on target (3.5) and completed the fewest crosses from open play (7.75) in the MLS, if we compare those numbers to Philadelphia Union who are only averaging 0.8 goals per game, they come up well short, with Philly posting 11.3/5.0/ 12.2 .
