Premier League betting preview..........Cherries ripe for picking !

football betting tips -

Premier League: AFC Bournemouth- Tottenham Hotspur

I opposed Tottenham at home to Newcastle United last weekend ...........

I have previewed both teams in the last week and each for the same fixture, a trip to Old Trafford to play Manchester United. The Magpies went there first and drew 0-0, they were unlucky, the Reds created little until late and Newcastle did enough prior to that to have possibly deserved the win. Either side they beat Brentford and Everton at SJP and scored six goals, five against the Bees who have kept back to back clean sheets subsequently and only 1-0 over the Toffees, but they were 1.52-0.12 for xG which is emphatic in EPL terms. Spurs lost 2-0, there is something not quite right with them at the moment, they were no shows at OT and the Emirates and I could pick big holes in 4 of their last 5 starts and they might turn it on today, but I just do not see them as circa even money shots at home to United right now.

They lost 2-1, but Antonio Conte teams rarely lose back to back league games let alone three in a row and these are the type of contests that we have seen Tottenham at their best in and they are 6-2-0 in their last eight starts away to non Big 6 opponents, conceding just once and scoring 2+ goals in five and 4 + goals in three.

Bournemouth will be pleased with 14th place and 13 points but they are nowhere near that level and their -15 goal difference is joint EPL worst and they are 20th for xP. I touched upon their real level ahead of a trip to London to play the Hammers last week.......

The Cherries have really ridden their luck, they are bottom for xP and the numbers look to have finally caught up with them in a home loss with Southampton last time out and I was staggered by how little attacking intent they showed in 0-0 home draw with Brentford earlier this month. They have averaged the lowest xGF per game in the EPL and have given up circa 2.2 xGA on the road. The Bournemouth squad lacks top flight quality and I touched upon this prior to the season starting ........

Bournemouth finished in a flattering position , second in the Championship, just two points back of Fulham, but the London side were head and shoulders better and the Cherries will have to improve big time to survive this season. Head coach Scott Parker also has a lot of EPL questions to answer after his 20/21 Fulham campaign, when he played too cautiously and his team scored just 27 goals, they were better than that and he was too often seemingly in a trance on the sidelines, waiting for things to go wrong before he took any action and my own personal jury on him is still very much out, at least at this elite level. They have spent very little, just one player of note, from the Championship this week and not exactly a game changer of an addition. If you offered them 17th place now, they would snatch your hand off and that is the extent of their ambitions and I am not sure that is Parker's forte by any stretch of the imagination, his success has come in "winning" teams, not those looking to grind out points game after game. They are, arguably, the poorest top flight side now in financial terms and I expect them to be relegated.

Scott Parker did not last long and I cannot deny that (still) interim head coach Gary O'Neil has got more out of the squad, but it is a group I know quite well and probably only two, possibly three would make the Brentford squad for example and one of those is injured. Hammers with a degree of comfort.

They lost that 2-0 and I expect to see something similar this afternoon.
